just picked this up (before anyone say it... i offered much more than the other 4 measly attempts ). anyway, remarkable condition late 50's kit with Deluxe snare drum. all original and unmolested, just need 2 clip on spurs and a lever screw to secure floor tom leg to complete the set up

I have the tightener for you Mr 40, kindly message me your address and I shall despatch.
Damn fine looking snare sir, I have a 6.5" deep one with the blue badge in White Pearl, six lugs only though. Sounds real old school with a calf batter.
Lucky you!

Mr B, I used to have one of those bass drums, an Olympic with two dampers, just like yours:

Many thanks Spart....that solves the mystery. I look forward to mine being as tidy looking as yours.

I've just cleaned the hoops / lugs on the snare drum. the condition is unbelievable. i dont have any string for the snares, so i cant give her a tap.
heres a taster, plus bearing edge close up

what i do like, are the double flanged hoops, stylish and vintage

They look very tasty Ian. Put the plain old white kit I bought (http://www.mikedolbear.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=106607) in the shade. I was interested that your bass drum only seemed to have one damper whereas mine has two. I can't find a two-damper bass drum in any of the Olympic catalogues so suspect it could be a Premier...which is what the three toms that came of the kit are. Any thoughts (anyone)?

Very nice Ian, the legs in question are also the same ones that made up the floor tom cradles, in the catalog you had a choice of either

Great kit Ian! I love those old blue bages too, well done!
ian-40 Posted - 12/05/2012 : 17:37:21
thankyou Spart, thats generous of you.

Yes indeedy Mr 40, so was my offer in retrospect!
That screw is a later addition. It should be either a T shaped one or a slightly less lascivious L shape. Curious that it has those mounts at all, let alone the Premier legs. i suspect it may have originally have been cradle mounted??
I may have either of these tighteners, will have a look tomorrow and let you know.
Needless to say, should you ever wish (or be compelled) to shift that set you will find a willing recipient here...

Let me know if the white silk un you have comes up, I would love that, I'd sell me 60's one for a seventies un!!

my comment was tongue in cheek Spart. i got it for a good price to be honest, but it will stay in my posession and hopefully be at the Premier 75th anniversary weekend later in the year.

The part i require is one of the FT leg tightening screws, >> http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f339/ian40/turnscrewSmall.jpg

thanks

Good Afternoon,
One of those "measly attempts" was mine! Still, I offered more than I paid for the last one I got.
Belter of a kit that, teach me to be of clenched wallet.
Which sort of lever screw do you require?
Enjoy...
