Just been uploading some tuition videos to YouTube and am after a little feedback from anyone who has a little 'quiet time' today?!
Primarily Rockschool tutorials (current/old syllabus - debut and grade 6) as trials, but am planning to do more of these - if folks find them useful.
Would appreciate any feedback - positive or otherwise... thanks!

Heh, heh - I get it wrong plenty don't you worry! Outtakes could well be an opiton :-)
Usefully, the rather amazing 'Analytics' pages on YouTube tell the complete story of how folks have bypassed a lot of the talky bits! It's a shame though, as there's a lot of (what I consider) to be the most useful content where very few appeared to be watching! But then, it's all a learning curve...
I can tell you though, that we've had viewers from the US and UK mainly, as you might expect, but also from India, Columbia and Brunei!! |

Thanks for the responses here.
Regarding the audio quality, initially I wanted to be able to 'press-play-and-go' in terms of getting the ideas down quickly with minimum fuss/editing. I think it's get away-able if the playing content is simple and there are few cymbals. Otherwise, it's run the audio through at least some expander processing I think?
With a view to actively augmenting what's already on YouTube, I wasn't going to actually play the tracks at all at first! But yes, if performances are going to be on the next batch, It'll be play first and chat later!
Paradiddles: is an Inverted Paradiddle not a sub set of the universal set named Paradiddles?
...and there are (standard) Paradiddles with ghost notes in the track anyway!
I'll walk myself to 'Ze Cooler', Major :-)

Just watched it via my PC. The drumset sound is too bright and not exact enough. Especially 'Eat my ferrari' with it's paradiddle ghost notes would be more clear if you dampen the sound of both drums (specially the snare drum) and cymbals.
I also agree with mully: play it first - and then describe the details afterwards.

I've just watched the KFD video clip. It's certainly very useful for students to SEE what's going on. The audio was fine through my PC speakers.
The only thing I found a little off-putting was that there was over five minutes of talking before you actually played the track. Relevant talking, certainly, but I can picture my students just fast-forwarding to where you play the track. I'll be honest, I did the same. Might it be a thought to consider playing the track first after a very brief spoken introduction, THEN talking through the score, the Amen Break, the general d & b style of playing and any other comments after the student has seen how it should be played?

...more specifically:
(1) If players who aren't working toward a Rockschool exam would find these lessons useful?
(2) The audio in the 'playing' sections - is it clear enough for you to pick out?
