Not a bad price. Looks pretty tidy too. Only a couple of miles down the road from me too!
Quite tempted, but just bought some other stuff!

Hmm. There are ... disappointments. Not in terms of what the seller has sold me, very happy with that. Just in terms of Premier's attention to detail.
My biggest beef is the bass drum spurs. They have a significant amount of play (not wear, a design issue) for one thing. Worse, they don't go long enough for me to use a standard lifter with the bass drum without the drum being tipped drunkenly forward. I prefer using a lifter to give me more flexibility with beater positioning. Other than replacing the spurs wholesale, which would be silly, I either need to replace the lower, insert portion of the spur with something longer, or fabricate my own, shorter, bass drum lifter.
The 10" and 12" tom hoops (particularly the 10) are very tight on the flesh hoop of the head. Never had this on a tom before, and makes tuning a bit of a chore (though not impossible).
The wrap overlaps on the bass drum hoop fall slap bang underneath the claws. Which would be fine, except these otherwise nice Premier cast claws don't fit over two thicknesses of wrap. So the hoop has to be a bit squint. No-one will notice, I imagine, and I'll probably forget all about it in time, but it just irks me.
Oh, and the tom holder is just a stupidly huge lump of metal. What is it with these ridiculously over-engineered (or is it under-engineered?) tom mounts from Premier? It's the same with my Genista. It weighs almost as much as the bloody bass drum! For day-to-day use I'll probably pick up something light(er)weight from Gibraltar.
Otherwise, everything's just dandy. No damage other than a very trivial amount of pedal rash, no wrap discolouration or lifting, bearing edges crisp as you like, not a single binding tension rod. |
