Hello folks. I'm sure this question has been asked many times buy can anybody recommend a set of relatively inexpensive drum mics. There's quite a few on the Bay but not really sure what I need and what would be value for money.
I play Rock and use a Mapex Pro M 4 piece kit. 22' Bass drum is ported. As a group we're looking to buy our own PA.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

live sound or recording? IMO it's all about a decent overhead mic. I would rather have a decent SDC overhead than mics on every tom...

Not surprised they worked out well for you. I have three of the P4s, for my rack tom, floor tom and aux. snare, and they are very good indeed.
I'd have to spend really silly money to get something significantly better.

When it comes to value for money I'd definitely go for the NJD set!

The clips for attaching mics to your toms & snare will save money & space since you won't have to get extra mic stands.
I've been using that bass drum mic for quite a while and it's never let me down once.

Plus the case is very handy for protecting your investment!

I started off with a set of Skytronic's, they were very good for the money,, there's a set of Shure's on the bay too,, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shure-PG-series-drum-mic-kit-with-6-microphones-/261064556855?pt=UK_Music_Instruments_Microphones_MJ&hash=item3cc8a90137

Also these, they look exactly like the Skytronics,

At that price, I'd go with the AKG offering as they'll definitely be good-quality.

I was going to suggest Red5's stuff which is very, very reasonably-priced and got excellent reviews from Sound On Sound when they came out at £159 for a full set of seven mics. http://www.red5audio.com/acatalog/Drum_Kit_Mics.html

I've just bought an AKG Groove Pack from Thomann - http://www.thomann.de/gb/akg_groovepack.htm

They get their first run tomorrow night; I will let you know how they get on.
