Ok so i use mixcraft 5 and im in the middle of doing my bands demo but ive come to a major problem. Some tracks on some of the songs 'change sound' when playing back. I dont know how to explain the change in sound except some parts go muffled/like it was played with a pillow over it and some seem to go more trebly. It happens when i chop up the takes toget the best sounding take. It didnt seem to happen with the bass or drum tracks. Just the guitar and now vocals. Its quite frustrating as i have spent ages trying to get it sounding good.
They were all recorded at the same time in the same place and only seem to change when chopping and cutting etc. its not that subtle either as i mixed to an mp3 to see how it sounded and it wasnt very good.
I have tried to contact mixcraft and.sign up to their forums but havnt yet had any sucess. Im running out of ideas now and would like to solve this before saturday. If you would like to hear what i.mean i could try to.upload something....
I am not familiar with Mixcraft, and all I can suggest is that you might still have one track "beneath" the new one you have edited in its place and causing interference, or some other error in the way you edited, or the sequence of events. Also did you set up different levels/mixes on the different tracks BEFORE doing the editing?
Thanks again for the quick reply. i will have to see if i have plopped the track over another! I didnt do anything to the tracks until i had them edited and where i wanted them for those tracks but i did start to mix drums. would that have an effect even though they were diffierent tracks?
Dunno for sure, but it could have made a difference. Also it might be an "apparent" difference: if you boost the sound of one instrument it can make the others sound weak. Clutching at straws here!
Right I just "fixed" one!?! I moved it around and changed volume etc and then back again and it worked ok. But I just found another one that's more extream! I'm uploading to utube now if anyone can help.
