Hey there Guys and Gals!
I've lurked on these forums for some time now and the other day I thought I might just start recording some drum covers. So here you go, a rendition of Queens of the Stone Age's No One Knows! http://youtu.be/thM8qrUJz90 My apologies for the sloppiness of my playing in this, it's usually not -3 in the garage
I appreciate any comments/critiques you may have and if you'd like to see more... SUBSCRIBE! |

| Nice cover but that snare is worse than your smoking habit. |

| Cheers again, the snare has a tendency to de-tune even with lug locks on the Offending lugs, I've remedied that with locking nuts. And what's so wrong about me smoking then? |

| Yeah it's cool. Great playing, your hands nailed it, even the tricky Cobham bit... but seriously... Jeff's right. Lose the cigar. You're a Dolbearian, and so I respect you straight off the bat, but in all honesty it immediatly makes you look like a tool that's trying too hard! |

| Nice playing, but the Cigar looks more of a hinderance! |

With the greatest respect to both of you, no he didn't. Auldy plays it as sixteenth notes, but it's not sixteenth notes. It's triplets, with the first note of the triplet "doubled". I don't know what the correct technical term for this is, I'm afraid. If you think of triplets as "one and ah two and ah..." etc, the fill has two 16th notes as the first note of the triplet. "One-E and ah two-E and ah..." etc. It's not straight sixteenths.
Now, having said that, it could be that I am wrong and that Auldy is, in fact, playing it correctly as the triplet thingie I mentioned above, but looking at his stick motion and listening to what he's playing, to me it looks and sounds like he's playing straight sixteenths.
Grand playing, though, Auldy, no offence intended.

Yeah, actually listening back, you're right Stephen, he didn't quite catch that figure (that sticking you described is casually known as "the cobham rudiment", or some would say "Herta"). TBH, I just wanted something nice to say before I bashed him on the cigar b0llocks! |

Hey guys! Again thank you for the wonderful comments/critiques and there's no offence taken, I'm a stubborn lil' bugger anyhow! :D I played the fill as a Swiss army triplet (with the flam on the front, no?) which seemed to emulate Mr.Grohls sound best. As for the cigar, well I just wanted something to make my cover stand out a little from the swathes of other QOTSA covers occupying the tube (who can blame me for trying eh?) but it was fairly easy to keep in my gob, as I either chew gum or beef jerky/chunks as it helps me focus, so holding the butt of the cigar was easy! Good thing I didn't break out the Briar pipe eh? Anyhow, I hope you guys like The Icicle Works ! |

Just popped a new cover up! Electric Six's "I Lost Control of My Rock and Roll". Sorry it's not The Icicle Works as I promised but I wasn't happy with the tracks in the end. Anyway this was a fun little ditty to play and I hope you enjoy it!
All comments and critiques are greatly appreciated! |
