What sort of prism? Triangular? Regular or irregular? Which cross-section?

Assuming triangular and regular, the cross-sectional area is 23cm^2.

The area is 23cm squared, regardless of its shape. The volume of a prism is

(cross section area) x length

Cross section is always uniform along its length.

You'll never make it as a consultant like that. When a customer gives you a requirement, your reaction should always be to make them think they haven't given you enough information. Even if they have. This way you maintain moral and intellectual superiority while giving yourself time to think (or Google).

This is the shit they don't teach you on those big fancy training courses.

However if the customer knows what he's talking about he'll see straight through your bull$hit facade.

But if he knows what he's talking about why would he need a consultant ???

He's the consultant, you're the clueless customer.

Is it a prism? If the original figures supplied by DWP are multiplied by 10, would a Catalina kit fit inside and what is the name of my neighbours dog?
