I was travelling between appointments on Friday and found myself near Rushock, Worcs., so took a trip to the church to find John Bonham's grave. It was a beautiful day, the village is stunning and the churchyard, newly mown, looked immaculate. The grave is quite simple, but is lovingly festooned with interesting, largely music related artifacts, (drum sticks, a couple of drum heads, cd and album covers) and dozens of coins placed on the headstone. The plot is clearly still a place of pilgrimage for drummers and music lovers paying their respects, like me, to the great man. I am not religious, but this was as near as I get to a spiritual experience. Go there if you can. This is not my video, but gives you a feel for the place:

I think it may be related to the Jewish custom of placing a stone or other small item on a grave to signify that you have visited. |
