Not quite eBay, but jeez. I don't need another kit and I already have the Birch (which is brilliant). This is a hell of a bargain for a new shell pack!

Mid life crisis kicked in, drum kit bought. It's not quite like cycling though, you forget. A lot!

I'm note sure. I have a Meridian Birch and it's very well-made.

I have a Meridian Maple and it's absolutely awesome! My former drum teacher came to watch a gig and thought the kit sounded mighty - he likened it to having a "stadium" sound and I only had 2 mics on it (on clipped to the bass drum hoop pointing up and one in the bass drum). The short stack toms are fantastic to position and have tons of depth and punch. It has a 22 x 20 bass drum which I realise is a size thats fast going out of fashion and it is fairly weighty. Build and finish are pretty much flawless. Can't fault it other than the issue of the weight and size of the BD

A 22x20 bass drum could easily be cut down to a more manageable 22x16, or even the classic 22x14.

Prog you're heavily into premier, what's your views on the artist vs the mapex meridian?

I'd imagine that there's not much in it, swampy. Both are solid, reliable kits.

How much was it advertised for?

I just miss the fantastic prices of the M-series a number of years ago.
They seemed to have a gap in the market all to themselves...

Now though, the Meridian is priced further up so I would probably pick a Gretsch instead...

Jazz drummer
Mapex & Zildjian = the perfect combination!
