I'm just about to buy a Renault Traffic, it's already ply-lined but doesn't have any hooks/eyes for strapping down gear.
Does anyone know where I could get this done? Or is it straight-forward enough to do myself?
Preferably near Edinburgh or Manchester and needs done at the start of Sept.
Cheers! |

You could do it yourself if you get the bits. If you are tying down large heavy loads then you will want to fix to the chassis where possible and make sure you buy fixings that are rated to the load you are carrying. I have seen fixings torn out where someone has just bolted to the floor. This can be done for light loads that you just want to stop moving about but you definitely need to bolt through a spreader plate on the underside of the floor. As it is a van it may well have fixing points already under the floor. Sometimes you can see the pressings in the floor. If so then it's a case of drilling through floor to reveal the bolt holes.
Failing that. Have a ring round a few local independent garages who should be able to help.
Hope that helps Good luck. |

I was a bit worried that I might have to find a coach-builder or something like that! |

There should be eyelets already in the floor. Lift up the bottom board, locate them and mark the board then cut away. |

Really?
Everyone I've spoken has only said good things about them...
This one is from 2009...
Well now I'm worried... |

| Nowt wrong with Ranault vans of late. The old ones were sheeyite, but more recent are OK. My last motorhome was on a Renault Master chassis, and was completely bulletproof. |

Ah cheers!
All the horror stories I read from that link were mostly pre-2007 vans... |
