I'm listening to some gospel tracks at the moment such as 'Love I never had' Mary J Blige, 'Fly like a Bird' Mariah Carey, which have some really nice tight drum and bass grooves and superb production going on and I'd like to find some more which feature some amazing drumming... can anyone recommend any decent artists or albums to look out for?

It's not quite gospel but a lot of the incognito stuff is really nice too and of a similar ilk production wise.

Probably the best known contemporary gospel artiste is Kirk Franklin. There's lots of his material on Youtube.

+1

BeBe & CeCe Winans are great too, another good thing to do is to check out some of the stuff done by some of the great grooving Gospel drummers - Aaron Spears and Teddy Campbell for example.

Not trying to be smart but please do check out Aretha Franklin's back catalogue.

Bermard Purdie and Roger Hawkins.

Much more substance and musicality.
