Site has trouble loading pages

Whether I use google chrome or IE8, this site (main site and forum) often seems to have problems loading pages to the point I have to quit. It's been happening a lot yesterday and today. It's not my connection or pc since I have no problem with any other websites. Is it something being looked into?

It's not doing too well on my iPhone today although it's fine on the PC.

Fine here. Try turning off Java support (not JavaScript, Java) which will prevent the scrolly-news applet from loading.
