| Depends on the gig, the size of the venue and how lazy I'm feeling. 2-up, 2-down å la Gadd (i.e. floating floor toms) is currently my preferred set-up, especially for function gigs. Sometimes 1-up, 2-down and 1-up, 1-down if I'm providing drums for jam nights, and sometimes 2-up stand-mounted and 2-down when I want the ride somewhere where I actually like it, which is over the bass drum. But if I do that, then my hi-hat position usually gets compromised. In fact, I dunno how I want to set them up most of the time. After selling my Gibraltar rack last year, I'm now wondering whether I want one again so I can go for the full Gavin Harrison-style 3-up, 2-down and have done with. |
