Cool. As an aside, here's a question for everyone... I think the door looks a little unbalanced with only two circular windows and am thinking of putting a third one further down. Anyone agree or am I at risk of over-thinking this?

Looks fine to me. Next thing you'll be fitting speakers in the portholes!

I'm actually a 3 port person. I'm not saying the 2 holes do not look right but I'm just on the "3" side of the fence. To me it feels like 1 is missing if that makes sense and it would always nag me ha ha. Or it would have to be 1.
Apparently the 1 & 3 as opposed to 2 is a well know psychoanalysis grouping trait type thingamebob !

The 3 is a strong compulsion: beginning, middle, end, base, column, pediment, left, centre, right, and in the case of portholes: First Class Cabin Class, Steerage.
Where would you put the 3rd though, if equally spaced there is no room for one above the existing ones, if below it will perhaps be very low on the door and look a bit odd, like a door in a primary school. It could be a smaller hole and have a tweeter in it! |

Cabling is NOT fun!
I love the portholes, much funkier than 3 in a line. Sorry, carpenter, but: GET ON WITH IT!!! (© Python, Holy Grail) |

| So someone messaged me suggesting that instead of the lower window being a perfect circle I have it routered into the shape of my logo. I LOVE this idea (though my carpenter really will kill me)! thoughts? |

| That logo window looks superb to me. Your crapentaker (© Pere Ubu) might have a challenge, but not as much as the glazier! You might have to get it done in Perspex, unless you have the wood shpae fitted OVER the glass, rather than the glass cut to that shape. If you do find you need to use perspex Hamar Acrylics in East London have a skilled fabrication service. Good idea to select the timber 2nds for out-of-sight areas. |

Yeah - loving that logo ! Carpenters love challenges !
I always find starting the conversation with "Now this might be a little out of your skill level but ........ " Always works with difficult workmen ! |

Thanks guys. I think the trick is pribably to put a glass window in as normal and bond the centre piece to the glass.
@ Stakka - love that! I'm definitely gonna nick the idea!

Gear photos !! Yum yum.
Having come in to this recording stuff late in the day Trev and only really being reared on Protools , basic audio interfaces and small live mixers - that desk looks a mighty fine beast but are there any special aspects of it that are specific to your more dedicated line of drum recording, or are they all pretty much of a muchness ?

API has long been known as the console of choice for recording drums. The API is known to be fast and mid-forward and distorts very nicely if its pushed really hard but also has lots of clean headroom. There are only three in the UK. |

| Do you foresee an issues between the plastering and the woodworks ie it's usually advisable to leave a good time between due to the amount of water that's released during the plaster drying, as it causes the wood to swell (unsealed or partially sealed wood anyway). Do you have a dehumidifier? |

| er... what woodworks do you mean (nb that the plaster will be a 1-2mm skim only)? |

I'm thinking when this is done a short video cam tour is certainly called for, whilst the room is in use, just so we can get an even better feel for the place heh heh |

Also looks like something that could be an exhibit for the turner prize awards !! Except yours would actually serve as a useful purpose, unlike other entries! |

| It was either Adrian Boult or Thomas Beecham who berated a woman 'cellist at rehearsal with the words "Madam, between your legs you have a fine and delicate instrument which could give a great deal of pleasure to a lot of men, but you persist in scratching it." |
