Remo Belli RIP

Remo Belli almost single-handedly changed the drum world and made everything about playing the drums a better experience.

He was born on June 22nd 1927 and sadly passed away on April 25th 2016.

The emergence of his revolutionary ‘Weather King’ drum heads in the mid 1950''s made it possible for drummers to begin to travel anywhere in the world without worrying about extremes of heat, humidity, cold, or whether in an emergency, they could find a replacement animal skin somewhere to fit our drum in time for the gig that night.

But that’s not all – with the introduction of his Mylar head he changed the very sound and ‘feel’ of the drum and this consequently affected the sound of the music we were playing. Without Remo to supply the polyester heads the world-wide ‘Beat Boom’ could never have happened and modern music wouldn’t have taken-off.

Thanks for everything Remo and Rest in Peace.
